Robert H. Sterner, Jr., Project Director Where We Were
The previous 911 Center and Office of Emergency Management were located in a County office building, which provided no room for needed expansion. The County of York’s Board of Commissioners acknowledged the need for new technologies, infrastructure improvements, and a new facility; as part of a comprehensive upgrade to the 911 Communications system known as the Emergency Services Center Project. Where We Are NowThe, multi-phase ESC project included: an upgrade and replacement to the radio and alerting infrastructure, new subscriber units, installation of a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, and a new Public Safety grade 911 Communications and Emergency Management Office facility designed to serve the County’s needs for the next 20 years. Facility construction began in early 2006, with an estimated completion date of mid 2007.
The County contracted with L. Robert Kimball and Associates to assist with consulting services for the Project. Services included both architectural and technology engineering design.
