H1N1 VACCINATIONS BEGINNING MONDAY YAMMRS has received the first shipment of H1N1 vaccine. YAMMRS has 16,000 doses of H1N1 nasal spray and approximately 2,000 doses of H1N1 injectable vaccine. At this time, YAMMRS is expecting the necessary associated supplies to be delivered by PADOH by the end of the week. These supplies include, but are not limited to; needles, gloves, gauze, and sharps containers.
The school vaccination plan will now be put into effect. The first district to participate will be Northern York County School District. YAMMRS will begin vaccinating 1585 children in the district on November 2nd. The second district selected is Dallastown Area School District. YAMMRS will be in Dallastown schools the week of November 9th vaccinating 4059 students. The schools are put in order based on a random selection process.
At this time, YAMMRS is planning to make the vaccine available to one school district at a time based on the random selection process. YAMMRS may provide vaccine to 2 school districts at the same time provided there is enough of each form of the vaccine available (nasal spray and injectable), and there are enough volunteers. YAMMRS NEEDS BOTH FORMS OF THE VACCINE ONHAND BEFORE GOING INTO A SCHOOL DISTRICT TO OPTIMIZE THE EFFICIENCY OF OUR VALUED VOLUNTEERS.
As of Monday (10/26), 698 volunteers registered on the YAMMRS website. More than half of the volunteers are clinicians. Anyone interested in assisting with the H1N1 vaccination effort is asked to go to WWW.YAMMRS.ORG and register today.
