Annual Poster Contest (Date: 2/2/2010) - It’s that time of year again. York County Department of Emergency Services is holding its Annual Poster Contest. The goal of the contest this year is to help educate younger children on the proper role of 9-1-1 in emergency services. The older kids will learn about disasters and emergency preparedness. All posters need to be submitted on or before March 31, 2010. “Reasons To Call 9-1-1”: Students in grades K-8 are asked to create a poster that shows reasons to call 9-1-1. “ready-york.org”: Students in grades 9-12 are asked to visit the ready-york.org website, select a topic, and create a poster on their topic of choice. The website is filled with important information on emergency preparedness. Who is Eligible? York County students in grades K-12. One winner will be selected from each grade. What should the poster look like? Posters should be created on paper, poster board, or illustration board. Paper dimensions should be no smaller than 8.5 x 11 and no bigger than 15 x 20. Artwork should be original. No computer-generated, stenciled, traced or stick-on letters should be used. Writing should be legible and all words spelled correctly. On The Back: Please provide the student’s name, age, grade, school, school address, home phone number, and parent/guardian names. What do you win? Each winner will receive a prize package (prizes yet to be determined).
